iceni is up for the challenge

Midlands video and digital production company iceni will present a ‘money can’t buy’ digital film making experience at the Black Country Student Awards, part of a £28 Million campaign from the Department for Children, Schools and Families.

The Black Country Student Awards are part of the Black Country Challenge campaign; the Challenge aims to motivate everyone working in education, across the Black Country, to make a real difference to educational performance and enable young people to achieve the highest standards possible.

The Student Awards will cover seven categories: Music, New Media, Writing for the Media, Science, Business, Sport and Performing Arts. To enter, students must complete an exciting challenge and winners will receive a 'money can't buy' experience and an invitation to an exclusive award ceremony in November.

Jim Knight MP, Minister of State for Schools and Learners, officially launched the Black Country Challenge with a film produced by iceni’s award-winning educational media team. The audience of schools, pupils, parents and partner organisations included representatives of Capita, Microsoft, the Learning and Skills Council, Government Office West Midlands and the National College of School Leadership.

Mr Knight said: "I see the Black Country Challenge as the catalyst needed to achieve the best education for all children. It is the local authorities, schools, their staff, pupils and parents, supported by the expertise the BCC can harness, which will bring about change.”

Cathy Bentley, Director at iceni said, “We’re always up for a challenge at iceni. We jumped at the chance to get involved and support the next generation of film makers. The Black Country is the industrial heart of England, but there’s a deep vein of creative talent in the region that deserves to be nurtured and celebrated.”

“iceni’s up for the Black Country Challenge, are you?”
