A DVD created by a Midlands production company to help promote a leading rail franchise has been entered for two prestigious awards after wowing industry bosses.
iceni’s completed film will celebrate three years of work by First Group plc and Keolis SA, who took over the Northern franchise in 2003, and have since transformed the TransPennine Express train service.
Together with Siemens and HSBC, they have invested £260 million to improve rail links and stations, and introduce a new fleet of 100mph, state of the art, air-conditioned trains.
TransPennine decided to break from corporate tradition by releasing a ‘teaser trailer’ of the final DVD film to keep its staff up to date with the impending launch.
Marketing manager at First TransPennine said: “We wanted it to look and feel really different to the normal corporate films produced, and iceni really listened to this, and came up with exactly what we had asked for.”
Positive feedback has been flooding in from railway staff.
First Group’s Interim Finance Director said: “This is the first time I have seen this style of approach - very slick and professional. Presented as a blockbuster trailer, it builds up the anticipation of something spectacular that everyone will want to see.”
Following the reaction of industry chiefs at the Railway Ball in November, where the trailer received a standing ovation, iceni decided to enter it into this year’s audio visual awards with Communicators in Business and the International Visual Communications Association.
The industry awards highlight excellence in business and public sector communications, and are internationally recognised. Nominees will be announced in the next couple of months.
The completed documentary-style film, showing how the improvements have been achieved, will be released to the government and rail industry bosses as well as TransPennine staff and shareholders as part of the official summer launch.
TransPennine has added to iceni’s substantial list of major clients that have put them on the map for providing a first class service in the communications industry.
Managing director, Cathy Bentley, said: “We are thrilled with the momentum of our success over the last couple of years and entering these awards has given us a real boost for the first quarter of 2006.”
